My Account Of The Hillsong United In Manila Concert 2008

Last May 26 was the concert of Hillsong United here in the Philippines at the Araneta Coliseum. It was really a night where people from different churches praised and worshiped God.

The place was really full, I can really say this because I was not able to go back to the seat where me and my friends have already reserved. We arrived just early enough to be able to pick the place we want, even if it was only in the General Admission section.

One other friend was not yet there, so I had to come down from time to time to see if she is already at the gate, the problem is there is a no re-entry rule, so you have to wait for the person behind the gates. People were rushing to get inside since the time was approaching for the concert to start, it was scheduled at 8 P.M. so my friends who were inside kept sending me messages with what is happening inside.

The time came that it was set to start, I returned and there was no way I will be able to get through, so the only way I can watch is from the space through the entrance doors. I just picked a better entrance with not much people and started to sing with everybody.

Still I have to go outside from time to time to check on that friend, even at 9 P.M. there were still people coming inside. I passed on someone who asked me how much is the ticket for the General Admission and I told him P291, he said he got ripped off by the person selling outside at P500.

Even if I was at the side I was really able to feel the heartfelt worship that happened on that night. I'm not really familiar with most of the songs they have performed but listening to the people, the younger generation it was really exhilarating.

Note: I will be borrowing pictures and videos from others who have posted the event.

Children's Ministry - Teacher's Training 2008

A Teacher's Training for Sunday School under the Children's Ministry was conducted last May 25, the objective is to look for potential teachers and assistant teachers in helping to share the Gospel to the young ones.

The speaker for the said event was Bro. Jay, he imparted to those who attended some basics on how to handle children and how to impart the lessons that can have a lasting impact. The attendees were about 8 persons. They were given handouts to be able to review on what they have heard and learned from the seminar.

They will be presented with certificates and will be scheduled for the next lesson under the theme "Fruits Of The Spirit" from Galatians 5: 22-23. This is going to be an exciting topic.

In behalf of the Children's Ministry, we welcome all those who have given their time and effort to attend. I know that this will be a start of an exciting journey in exploring the talents God has given you and using it for His glory.

God bless you.

Get Together For The Month Of May 2008

Our monthly get together last May 25, is another chance for all of us to know each other better and be able to build camaraderie.

Sharing in whatever we have to each and everyone makes it a more memorable experience.

I can't wait for next month, even if it is just a simple lunch, it is still an important time for all of us. We are able to share our lives to each other and be an encouragement on what God has done for all of us.

Lesson 8 - Dishonesty Hurts

Note: The lessons were taken from the Truth and Honesty Teachers Manual of Voice Philippines.

Values Voice - "I will always tell the truth."

Though the tongue is a small part of the body, it can say so many words in a minute. There are times that the words that come out of our mouths are dishonest words that can in turn hurt others. In this lesson we have realized that we need to tame the tongue by saying good and true words.

The Bible lesson was taken from Mark 14:66-72, this was when Peter denied Jesus three times. After he realized what had happened, Peter cried. With this situation Peter didn't only hurt Jesus but also himself by lying.

The Ninth Commandment also talks on dishonesty,

"You must not lie."
(Exodus 20:16, Living Bible)

All of us have lied at one point in time, may it be big or just a small one, but one thing is for sure you end up hurting someone and in a way you also hurt yourself. Pray to God for help in telling the truth even if it is hard.

The Youth Camp 2008 Follow-Up

Last May 18, there was a Youth program centered on the follow-up of those people who have attended the Youth Camp 2008 in Zambales.

They were grouped accordingly and had some discussions. Part of the session was to explain the differences in their lives when they came to know Christ.

During the ice breaker they had a game that involved making animal sounds. The objective of this activity is to remember the theme of the Youth Camp.

There will be more activities line-up for the Youth Ministry and it is going to be an exciting time for them.

Hillsong United Philippines Concert 2008

Just want to announce that Hillsong United will be here in the Philippines for their concert this coming May 26. The venue is at the Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City at 8PM.

I just learned of it from a poster from a booth that sells Christian music from one of the malls. I thought we won't be able to get tickets anymore, which really is true buying from Ticketnet and SM there were no available General Admission.

I tried the site authorized for this upcoming event - http://unitedmanila08.multiply.com/ - called the nearest contact person and was able to confirm remaining tickets and I will be seeing her by Saturday.

I really thank God for this, having the budget and being able to get tickets. I will post excerpts of the event here. Until next time . . .

Children's Week For The Month Of May

For Children's Week two of our kids offered their song to the Lord. The first video is of Thia singing "Still" and the second video is Micah with the song "Potter's Hand".

I am blessed to see these children perform and I know that in time they are able to hone their talents and use it for God's purpose.

Just a background of these kids, Thia is the second child of Pastor Fernando and Pastora Ranie, while Micah is the daughter of Sister Lorna and Brother Vic.

Thank you to Faith (sister of Thia), Brother Ramer and Brother Ramil for the guitar backups.

Videos From Mother's Day Celebration 2008

Here is the continuation of some of the happenings last Mother's Day, the following videos are part of the said event.
The first video is the compilation of what the Children's Ministry of Lift Jesus Higher Church have been doing for the past months. We want the mothers of these children to see their talents and what they are learning in Sunday school.

Through this video we also want to thank them for continuously entrusting your children to us. That we will do to the utmost of our abilities on what God has given us teachers.

The two succeeding videos are the song and dance number we have prepared for their mothers. The song is entitled "Thanks to You" by Tyler Collins and the dance "Never Give Up" is from Hillsong Kids.

Thank you again to those who participated and helped in this event. Remember that God blesses those who share their talents and time for His glory.

Note: The two performance videos are not that clear because of an adjustment that was made.

Mother's Day Celebration 2008

Last May 11 was Mother's Day. This is a once in a year tribute to that favorite woman who brought you into the world, our mother. The following photos are some of the things we had done for that very special day.

We gave invitations to some of the children so that their mothers will be able to attend this celebration. We prepared a song "Thanks to You" and danced "Never Give Up" to pay tribute. We also gave cd souvenirs and balloons for the mothers that came and even those who were not able to come were also given one.

It was really a very happy occasion not only to the mothers but also for us who have prepared for it. There is so much that can be done and with cooperation, we will go a long way, all with God's grace.

Transformer Youth Camp 2008

This is a camp that evangelizes thousands of youth every summer. The theme for this year 2008 was based on the popular movie Transformer which used the verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17, "The old has gone... the new has come." There were many batches that have attended and our Lift Jesus Higher Church Youth was scheduled for May 4 to 6, it was held at Iba, Zambales.

They have prepared topics based on the above photos. This helps the youth that have attended the camp to understand the need for having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Below are some of the highlights of this event that has changed a lot of lives.

They had lots of activities for those that have joined the camp. From the praise and worship, group activities, seminars, sharing and many more.

We wish to thank all the people that have been a part of this mission and making it all possible. God bless you all and be confident that the Lord will favor you in what you are all doing.

To God be the glory!

Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation;
the old has gone, the new has come!

2 Corinthians 5:17
